Solutions to Your Resolutions

by Fred Bergeron

Greetings and Happy New Toastmasters!

It’s that time of year again when we anticipate our resolutions on January 1st, but by January 15th, we’ve already given up on them.

Did you know that the word “solution” is also in resolution?

According to Webster’s Dictionary, a solution is an action or process of solving a problem.

Here are five attainable resolutions to get you started:

Pick a Power Word

My word is “fearless,” as I need to be more like a hungry tiger and quit self-sabotaging myself.

Be Consistent

One of the biggest reasons why people don’t meet their goals is because they’re not consistent. Set a schedule to keep you on track, and even appoint an accountability partner.

Try Something Different

Try something totally out of your comfort zone, such as writing a book or cooking a gourmet meal.

Bury the Hatchet

Nothing speaks volumes like forgiving those who have either wronged you, or you’ve wronged at some time.

Get More Sleep

If you’re anything like me, my head never hits the pillow before 10 PM. Make a plan to go to bed at the same time, all the time, and allotting 6 to 10 hours of sleep every day.

When it comes to having solutions to your resolutions, just remember that Nike slogan – “Just Do It!”
