Inspiration Jump Starts the Process
Julie Salgo
The handy Internet describes INSPIRATION as the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel
something, especially to do something creative.
If INSPIRATION is a process, it must have an INPUT to jump start the process, followed by a series of steps and decisions, until something is accomplished. The initial input/stimulation may come from within, such as as a desire, or with an external stimulus. Either way inspiration can lead to long-term changes.
How would you answer the following questions? Everyone has individually shaped responses, but
these are my quick ones:
What inspired you to join a Toastmaster Club?
I followed my friend who has been a long-time enthusiast.
What inspires you to accept a meeting role?
I like to see a completed agenda ahead of time.
What inspires you to progress with your Pathways projects?
I want to keep the momentum going.
What inspires you to volunteer for a Club Officer Role?
I wish to share responsibilities.
What inspires you to invite guests to Toastmasters meetings?
I wish to see larger clubs with diverse members.
If as a Toastmaster you show signs of progress, you will become a role model for others who attend club meetings and any other events. Also, visiting numerous clubs – which is so easy nowadays via ZOOM access – you will get more and more mental stimuli you can translate into several new and creative ideas and actions of your own, using your unique spices and sauces.
My current inspiration is the following wisdom for all of us:
INSPIRATION IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF OUR CREATIVITY. IT IS NEVER ABSENT IN THE
BRAIN FUNCTION OF ANY LIVING HUMAN BEING. IF SUCCESSFULLY APPLIED, IT PUSHES US FOR ACTION. IT IS OFTEN AN INTERNAL MOTIVATION TO INITIATE SOMETHING NEW, BUT SOMETIMES REQUIRES COURAGE TO ACCEPT CHALLENGES. PAY ATTENTION TO THE INITIAL DRIVE AND REMEMBER: TOTAL DEDICATION IS NECESSARY TO IGNITE THE PROCESS. BE ALWAYS OPEN TO UNIQUE IDEAS AND NEVER GIVE UP.
